Guy Maddin is a Canadian filmmaker, actor, sound engineer, director of photography and scriptwriter. In 1986, he directed his first short movie entitled The Dead Father, already imbued with his eccentric (even perhaps experimental) esthetic. Maddin also explores an autobiographical style with movies such as Cowards Bend the Knee … (2003) or Brand Upon the Brain! (2006). In 1995, Guy Maddin received the very
coveted Telluride Medal at the Telluride Film Festival.
Direction
Galen Johnson
He studied Environmental Design at the University of Manitoba and worked for several years in the architecture industry. In 2012, he worked as Production Designer, Title Designer, and Composer on The Forbidden Room, for which he was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for production design/art direction. He has since gone on to co-direct Bring Me the Head of Tim Horton (2015) and the experimental short film website Seances (2016), both with Guy Maddin and Evan Johnson.
