Synopsis
In the small seaside resort of Kiryat Yam in the north of Israel, everything seems to have stopped. Lana, 16, swore to fight against stillness and resignation. She can't imagine that a rumour about a mermaid is going to wake her town up from her lethargy and enable her to live at last.

Keren Ben Rafael
Keren Ben Rafael is a screenwriter and director living between Paris and Tel Aviv. She studied philosophy and French literature at Tel Aviv Universtiy before entering the Directing Department at La Fémis. Vierges (2018) is her first feature film. It was developed thanks to the Jerusalem Film Lab, the Haifa Film Pitch and Cinemart (Rotterdam Festival). It was screened in the competitive category at Tribeca (Best Actress in an International Narrative Feature for Joy Rieger) and Cannes (Ecrans Juniors selection).
